Why are billions of people still living in abject, squalid poverty all over the world, when we have trillions of currency units swirling around the globe each and every day? Why are so many people needlessly suffering and even dying from those horrible diseases whose cures have already been found decades ago? Why are so many people unemployed and frustrated at this time, when there is so much work we have to do to make this world a better place? There seems to be something wrong with the system, and we have to repair it. And we must repair it fast.
Is it possible to accelerate economic development and human progress from the current glacial pace? Is it possible to get to a better future more quickly? What are the factors slowing us down? And what can be done to speed up peace and prosperity? These are some of the questions which I have been grappling with over the last many years.

I'm confident that the power of the Internet and today's communication technologies will build upon each other, accelerating the sharing of ideas and building up momentum, so that the thoughts expressed here approach an inflection or tipping point, enabling the rapid, widespread enhancement of human existence.
